Text Box: As mentioned on my Home Page, I like to use this website to share my experiences with anybody who is interested. On this page I would like to show some practical tips that have helped me over the years to reduce the workload in my fish room and to keep your cichlids healthy. I know, it is a labour of love but.......
I found that the best source for finding practical tips are the old aquarium books. 50-60 years ago, hobbyists had to be very inventive and creative to get the desired results.

Text Box: Wouldn’t it be nice if it was that easy to determine the sex of your cichlids? Well, we all know that it is not that simple. There are many characteristics that could help you to find out the difference between male and female like size, color, shape etc., but there is only one method that I’m aware of to be almost 100% sure and that is venting. Gary Kratochvil from “Exotic Tropicals” has written an article that will help you to learn this process. It will take some time and practice but it is worth the effort.
